Implementation and success factors from Thailand’s 1-3-7 surveillance strategy for malaria elimination

Abstract Thailand’s National Malaria Elimination Strategy 2017–2026 introduced the 1-3-7 strategy as a robust surveillance and response approach for elimination that would prioritize timely, evidence-based action. Under this strategy, cases are reported within 1 day, investigated 3 days, foci responded to 7 building on long history of conducting case investigation since 1980s. However, hallmark is timeliness, with strict deadlines reporting accelerate elimination. This paper outlines experience adapting implementing including success factors such cross-sectoral Steering Committee, participation in collaborative regional partnership, flexible local budgets. The programme continues evolve ensure prompt high-quality management, capacity maintenance, adequate supply lifesaving commodities based data. Results from implementation suggest has contributed decline malaria burden; may be useful other countries aiming eliminate malaria.
